Overview & Key Takeaways

Sony and Marvel's second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally here, showing Peter Parker struggling with a new foe and a major change.

It's been months since we got our first look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day, this summer's highly anticipated follow-up to 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Thanks to a new trailer for Tom Holland's new Marvel movie, we now know more about the actor's next turn as Peter Parker, your friendly neighborhood (and all-but forgotten) Spider-Man.

A new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day released Wednesday focuses on the personal struggles of Peter Parker as he contends with new changes to his superpowers — which includes new organic webshooters and all-black eyeballs. He turns to Bruce Banner, who now wears a Hulk-suppressing device, for help. But we later see that Hulk and Spidey will square off, as the former appears to be mind-controlled by the movie's supposed antagonist — rumored to be a major new addition to the MCU, played by Sadie Sink. As Peter contends with unwelcome changes, threats to his beloved MJ, and new villains, we hear what appears to be new dialogue from Aunt May, suggesting Marisa Tomei will return, likely in a voiceover role.

The second trailer for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' new superhero movie offers a quick peek at a "totally out of control" Spider-Man battling Scorpion; glimpses of Ned Leeds desperate to uncover the wallcrawler's secret identity; and a fierce battle against The Hand ninja clan featuring some dazzling new spider-web action.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day introduced us to a depressed and highly stressed Peter Parker, who, despite being beloved by the people of New York City, is eking out a lonesome, low-profile existence. His best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) and the love of his life, MJ (Zendaya), are strangers to him after the events of No Way Home, and Pete appears to be going through tribulations both mental and physical. A new potential threat emerges in Sadie Sink's still-unconfirmed character, all while Spider-Man has to deal with the likes of the Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, the Hand, and other as-yet unrevealed foes.

While Pete may be miserable, Spider-Man fans are loving the return to what made the character's early Marvel comics so compelling. Pete's struggles as a regular person were just as riveting as the high-flying adventures of Spider-Man, which Brand New Day will explore.

The next Spider-Man movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Short Term 12), based on a script from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who penned the previous three Spider-Man films. Joining Holland, Zendaya, Batalon, and Sink in Spider-Man: Brand New Day are newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman. They'll be joined by MCU veterans Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal, returning as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Frank Castle/The Punisher, respectively.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into movie theaters on July 31.

There's no word yet on how long the Extended Look will run for or what parts of the game it'll cover, but fans are expecting brand-new footage and a proper look at how GTA 6 will play. If it's anything like the previous games in the series, expect driving, shooting, and a closer look at Vice City. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-6-leaks-a-timeline-of-the-events-so-far/
