Nintendo Switch 2 owners can finally play Elden Ring in 2026, now that we have official release date info from Bandai Namco.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners can finally get their hands on Elden Ring on Aug. 28, publisher Bandai Namco announced Thursday. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will bring 2022's open-world action-RPG to Switch 2 in its complete form; the rerelease includes the base game and 2024's Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree.
Patient Switch 2 owners will also get new starting classes and some cosmetic bonuses with the Tarnished Edition, including new armor sets and customization features for Elden Ring's in-game steed, Torrent. Players on other platforms will have to pay for those new cosmetic bonuses, Bandai Namco says. Pricing for the new cosmetic items, known as The Tarnished Pack DLC, was not announced.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has been a long time coming. The Switch 2 port was originally announced in April 2025 at Nintendo's big showcase for its new console. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was revealed alongside a handful of other ports, including Switch 2 versions of games like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, and Hitman World of Assassination.
Originally, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was slated to arrive in 2025, but after a rough showing at last summer's Gamescom event, developer FromSoftware and Bandai Namco delayed the game into 2026. Recent showings of the Elden Ring Switch 2 port were more promising, however. Now it appears that FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have managed to get the open-world fantasy role-playing game in working order on Nintendo's hybrid console-handheld.
Elden Ring is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The original game was Polygon's Game of the Year in 2022.
