6 new Switch 2 games to play in June 2026

Overview & Key Takeaways

Nintendo Switch 2 new releases in June include a massive Nintendo exclusive, a AAA port, a new action-RPG, and some great indie games

Typically, the video game world spends June turning its eyes to the future at events like E3 and Summer Game Fest. But this year, Switch 2 owners will have plenty to occupy themselves with in the present โ€” it's a pretty busy month for new releases.

The month is headlined by a huge comeback for a beloved Nintendo series. We're also getting a major AAA port, a new action-RPG, a wild new indie, and a couple of ports of fascinating indie games from 2025.

1 Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Release date: June 3

Square Enix is hustling to bring Switch 2 players up to date with its massive Final Fantasy 7 remake project. A very good version of the first chapter, Remake, only launched in January; hopefully you've had time to finish it, because the sequel, Rebirth, is upon us. This one's much more expansive, with more open sections and a wild plethora of minigames and diversions. It's a huge favorite with PlayStation 5 players, and a must-play if you haven't already. Also, expect to hear about the third and final title soon.

2 To a T

Release date: June 11

From the inimitable mind of Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi comes this delightfully awkward fable about a teen who's stuck in a T-pose. A bit underrated on its original release last year, To a T is a surreal but relatable exploration of disability and difference, but also talking dogs, animal-run newspapers, flying, giant mushroom forests, and whatever else is going on in Takahashi's brain.

3 Denshattack!

Release date: June 17

Barcelona studio Undercoders had the genius idea of combining riding rails with grinding them in this tricked-out train game. You're controlling a high-speed train car in post-apocalyptic Japan, and you can kickflip and stunt the train like you're playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater or Jet Set Radio. Denshattack! looks mesmerizingly fun.

4 The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

Release date: June 18

Square Enix continues to push its evocative, semi-retro HD-2D aesthetic style, as featured in the Octopath Traveler games, with this original action-RPG. The Adventures of Elliot is more of a hack-and-slash than a classical RPG, and its story has time-travel elements, leading to comparisons with the Mana series, The Legend of Zelda, and the classic Chrono Trigger.

5 Wanderstop

Release date: June 23

Sadly, developer Ivy Road was forced to close earlier this year, before it had a chance to see its 2025 game Wanderstop arrive on Switch and Switch 2. It's a thoughtful cozy game about recovering from burnout, featuring a failing, exhausted fighter working at a tea shop. The circumstances surrounding the game only make it more poignant now.

6 Star Fox

Release date: June 26

This is the big one: A lavish Switch 2 remake of Star Fox 64 (which was itself a remake of the original Star Fox). Star Fox is a straightforward, visually spectacular space shooter with memorable characters โ€” and a favorite of its original creator, none other than Shigeru Miyamoto. Will this new version finally propel Fox McCloud into the rarefied air of the top Nintendo franchises? We'll see, but the new full orchestral arrangement of the soundtrack (which you can preview on Nintendo Music) sounds absolutely stunning.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Will Do Something No Previous CoD Beta Has

Activision has announced that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta will have more than just multiplayer content. The MW4 beta will also include access to the campaign mission, Entrenched, along with the upcoming Warzone mode, Resurgence Zodiac(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/cod-modern-warfare-4-beta-may-include-a-new-warzone-map/). Activision will show off some of this content during the Call of Duty: Next event on August 21. As announced previously, the beta begins with an early access period August 21-25 for people who preorder, before opening up to everyone to try August 28-September 1. The early-access beta will not be available on Switch 2, as preorders for the Switch 2 version don't begin until August 28. !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/Screenshot-2026-08-14-at-10.47.27-AM.png) The MW4 beta approaches. Activision also revealed all the maps, modes, and content in the beta. You can find the full details in GameSpot's rundown of the MW4 beta(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-beta-dates-revealed-heres-how-to-get-in/). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 releases on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2, and preordering grants access to the campaign a week before launch(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-brings-back-campaign-early-access-heres-how-to-get-it/). The game coming to Switch 2 is notable since the franchise hasn't appeared on a Nintendo platform since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts. MW4 is also the first entry since Ghosts in 2013 to skip PS4 and Xbox One. Infinity Ward is leading development on the game, which comes after back-to-back Black Ops releases, the latter of which, 2025's Black Ops 7, had the worst sales ranking in the US since 2008(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/black-ops-7-had-call-of-dutys-worst-sales-year-ranking-in-the-us-since-2008/1100-6537567/). Also noteworthy for Modern Warfare 4 is that it will not launch directly into Xbox Game Pass, as both Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 did.
