Rock Paper Shotgun ยป Guidesโœ Jeremy Blumโฑ 7 min read(3 months ago)

Overview & Key Takeaways

Like all Lego games, studs are the main currency in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and you'll need a huge amount of them if you want to unlock every single one of the game's 120+ outfits and 30+ vehicles.

You'll naturally accumulate studs as you progress through Legacy of the Dark Knight's missions and break as many bricks as possible in each environment you come across. But if you're looking for methods of quickly increasing your stud reserves, we've got a few suggestions.

In this guide, we'll explain how to get studs fast in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, giving you suggestions on how to keep your Stud Multiplier high, acquire a Stud Cache, and where to farm studs.

To get lots of studs quickly in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, use the following methods:

Get stud upgrades

To increase the value of the studs you collect, consider purchasing the following skills with Gold Bricks as you progress through Legacy of the Dark Knight:

  • Hyper Combo (Tiers 1 and 4): This lets you increase your maximum Stud Multiplier to x3 and eventually x4.
  • Stud Combo Duration: This makes your Stud Combo bar last longer, which gives you more time to collect additional studs and rack up those high multipliers.
  • Speedy Stud Combo: The Stud combo bar increases faster. This works well in tandem with Stud Combo Duration.
  • Stud Magnet (Tier 1, Tier 3 is optional): Last but not least, this is a handy skill upgrade that will let you pull studs from farther away. It's useful to have when you're smashing up all of the bricks in an area and don't want to specifically run every which way to collect studs.

If you're not sure how this stud multiplication business works, the circular meter that fills up in the top right of your screen when you collect studs is the Stud Combo bar. When it maxes out, you'll unlock the Stud Multiplier, which multiplies the value of any studs you acquire as long as you keep grabbing them in rapid succession and don't let the Stud Combo bar decrease.

Check this screenshot in case you were confused at where the Stud Multiplier and Stud Combo bar are. Remember, the bar is that circle around the picture of the stud, and it'll decrease over time if you don't keep grabbing studs! | Image credit: Rock Paper Shotgun/Telltale Games

At the start of Legacy of the Dark Knight, your Stud Multiplier maxes out at x2. (For instance, grabbing a gold stud normally gets you 100 points, but with a x2 Stud Multiplier, you'll get 200 points for it.) Upgrading it so that it hits x3 and x4, then, is a truly massive increase that means tripling and then quadrupling your stud values!

Get a Stud Cache

For a quick stud boost, you can get a Stud Cache as an award for filling out a brief Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight survey. Simply open up the game's menu and navigate over to the Extras tab.

Once there, scroll down to The LEGO Group Online Survey and open it, which will show a QR Code. Scanning this QR Code will lead you to the survey, which is a fairly unobtrusive one as far as surveys go.

There are no questions about personal information, if you were wondering - rather, the survey asks players to rate their experience playing the game and whether or not they've played previous Lego games. If you've got any feedback that you want to leave for Legacy of the Dark Knight, there's also a space in the survey where you can input remarks.

After completing the survey, a reward code is sent to you. Go to the Main Menu of the game and hit Redeem Code to enter the survey.

Upon doing so, you should receive a message that you've unlocked the Stud Cache. You'll need to have unlocked the Batcave at the start of Chapter 2 to access this cache. (Refer to our full mission list for a glimpse at all chapters in the game.)

Once in the Batcave, the Stud Cache will be near the Batmobile parking space, and it'll be marked on your map with a little present icon. Opening it will grant thousands of studs, though the exact amount will depend on whether you've unlocked any of the upgrades listed above.

Farm studs in Amusement Mile

Once you've unlocked Amusement Mile in North Island (see our guide for all fast travel SubWayne locations if you're looking to get there quickly), you can use the roller coaster for a relatively easy method of farming studs repeatedly.

Whenever you're riding the coaster, you'll grab a good number of studs along the track. These studs happily respawn each time that you ride, and a single ride takes about 30 seconds. Keep riding over and over again, and as long as you've gotten the stud upgrades mentioned above, you can start racking up some truly absurd numbers.

To keep your Stud Multiplier and Stud Combo bar from decreasing in between rides, be sure to immediately smash the potted plants near the coaster for more free studs, then quickly hop back on. I started getting roughly 100,000+ studs after repeatedly doing this for a few minutes.

That's a wrap on how to get lots of studs in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
