GTA 6 release date for 2026 confirmed by Take-Two and Rockstar
Overview & Key Takeaways
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that the Nov. 19 launch is still on ahead of the company's annual earnings call
This week started with a significant slice of the GTA fandom utterly convinced that Rockstar Games would release a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6. That didn't end up happening, but the head of Take-Two Interactive โ the parent publisher of Rockstar โ just confirmed that GTA 6 will indeed launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on Nov. 19. That's right, no more delays.
In a statement released ahead of today's earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, โOur Fiscal 2026 performance was exceptional and exceeded our initial expectations at every label. We believe Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the Nov. 19 launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, along with strong execution across our portfolio. We expect to sustain this higher level of scale, generate strong cash flows, and deliver long-term shareholder value as we release our robust development pipeline, continue to optimize our live services and capitalize on new business opportunities.โ
With less than six months left to go until launch, there are still plenty of unanswered questions about the year's most anticipated game. Despite years of speculation and debate, we still don't know the confirmed pricing for GTA 6, nor do we know anything about the game's online component. Thanks to an April 2026 hack, we learned that Rockstar still makes as much as $1 million per day from GTA Online, so it's safe to assume that GTA 6 will have an online component at some point.
On the official front, Rockstar has released two trailers, the first in December 2023 and the second in May 2025. Unofficially, a hacker published more than 90 videos containing development footage of the game back in September 2022. So when will we actually see a third trailer for the game, or a more in-depth showcase about GTA 6? That remains to be seen.
With a new trailer rumored to drop any day, fans are wondering how much theyโll be able to customize the appearances of GTA 6โs protagonists
