Pragmata: Best mods and where to find them
Overview & Key Takeaways

In Pragmata, Mods are an extremely useful way of upgrading Hugh and Diana's abilities in combat. From enabling faster hacking to increasing overall durability, Mod chips offer various possibilities for making the journey through the Cradle easier, and they're also vital if you want to tackle Pragmata on Lunatic difficulty mode, or if you want to complete all of the hidden missions required to unlock the secret ending.

Mods are usually hidden in storage chests, and while you'll encounter some of them naturally in your travels, others are more elusive. Below, I've outlined what I consider the 8 best Mods in Pragmata, along with descriptions of what they do and where to find them. While choosing your favourite Mods is obviously subjective, these were the ones that kept me alive and gunning during my playthrough the most, and they're more than capable of standing up to Pragmata's most difficult bot bosses.
Best Mods in Pragmata
The 8 best Mods in Pragmata are:
Below, you can find descriptions for each of these Mods and how to get them, including links to relevant sections in our comprehensive five-part Pragmata walkthrough.
Hardened Suit

Ability: Increases max HP by 10%.
Location: Sector 1 (Solar Power Plant); Main Control Lobby. Located near the Main Control Lobby Station Escape Hatch.
You'll likely pick up Hardened Suit as the first Mod during your playthrough, and it's a good one that can easily stay in your loadout until the endgame. Hugh needs as much health as possible to survive bot attacks, especially in Pragmata's Lunatic mode, and until you can upgrade his suit's Firmware to higher levels, Hardened Suit does the job nicely.
Extended Breach
Ability: OPEN enemies stay exposed for 15% longer.
Location: Sector 2 (Mass Production Array); Shopping District. Found after exiting the room with lots of mannequins in the Orbit department store; ride the hand lift upwards after fighting a Walker to enter a room with a chest.
Hacking bots is Pragmata's main gimmick, and it can be frustrating when their OPEN state doesn't last as long as you'd like. Extended Breach's a good Mod for dealing extra damage to enemies, as it gives you more time to find their glowing orange weak spots and rip into these sensitive areas with Hugh's guns.
Close Quarters
Ability: Increases attack power by 10% when within 10 meters of the enemy.
Location: Sector 2 (Mass Production Array); Shopping District. Found shortly after picking up the Basketball REM, and right before entering the room with the note on how urban recreation projects are planned for additional cities, including Seoul, Madrid, and Delhi.
Close Quarters helped me wreck the final boss in no time. Granted, I did also have a complete Deletion Protocol gauge and maxed out Homing Missiles, but Close Quarters is generally an excellent option for amplifying your damage when you're strafing behind a boss. Considering that most of the areas in Pragmata are fairly confined, it makes sense to equip this.
Relay Amplifier
Ability: Increases hacking range by 30%.
Location: Sector 2 (Mass Production Array); Interconnecting Passage. Found shortly after your first real fight with an Executor in the alleyway; hack the nearby control panel to make platforms appear that let you move up. The mod is inside a blue chest near the next flying bot.
While I generally prefer keeping close to bosses in Pragmata to unleash damage via Close Quarters, I do like having the option to hack from far away if need be. Relay Amplifier does just that, and an ideal setup for me is to have both this and Close Quarters equipped. Get Diana to hack deadly bots from a safe place, then have Hugh storm in with guns blazing.
Collateral Damage
Ability: 30% of Critical Shot damage spreads to nearby enemies.
Location: Sector 3 (Terra Dome); Eco Modeling Lab. Inside the chest in the reward room of the Red Zone within the Eco Modeling Lab, and only accessible after defeating all enemies.
Critical Shot deals great damage and looks cool, with Hugh running up to enemies with his gun for a no-holds-barred blast to the face. But what if you could make it spread to other opponents as well? That's what Collateral Damage is for. Considering that Pragmata loves to lock you into arenas against waves, you might as well get some extra mileage out of your Critical Shot to kill multiple bots at once.
Aggressive Defense
Ability: Reduces damage received by 20% while aiming your weapon.
Location: Sector 3 (Terra Dome); Eco Modeling Lab. Near the staircase by the Meteorology Sim Lab Station.
The best defense is an aggressive one, right? Since you'll be doing a lot of aiming in Pragmata as Diana gears up her hacks, Aggressive Defense can really save the day. This useful chip will keep enemies from lashing out at you while you prep your Homing Missiles, Photon Laser, or whatever other big gun you swear by.
Untappable Potential
Ability: For 15 seconds, hacking node usage increases attack power by 10% and damage taken is reduced by 10%.
Location: Sector 6 (Central Port); Port Entrance. In a chest behind an invisible wall in the first major area you come to with lots of dead filament on the floor; a Creeper awaits here to attack you once you go past the invisible wall.
Consider Untappable Potential a little boost to give you an extra edge in dangerous scenarios. You get this Mod near the end of the game, and it offers up a nice bonus against the harder enemies in the Central Port, especially as you scramble to bypass all of the corrupted nodes in their hacking matrices.
Heat Transfer
Ability: Enemy heat gauges fill 10% faster, causing enemies to be downed more quickly.
Location: Sector 6 (Central Port); Regolith Lab. In a hallway near several lasers that can be turned off via a hackable ceiling panel. The second-to-last Mini Cabin Figure of this Sector is in a nearby room.
Heat Transfer is a superb Mod, but it's worth noting that it works best if you heavily make use of the Heat Hacking Node. This node makes the heat meter (the yellow bar below each enemy's health) increase every time you hack a bot and have it enter an OPEN state. Amplify this with Heat Transfer to cause lots and lots of overheating that'll turn your foes vulnerable, letting you get your shots off without worrying about them smashing Hugh in the face.
That finishes our list of the 8 best Mods in Pragmata.
