A New The Division PC Game Is Out Right Now, And It's Free

While fans wait for The Division 3, Ubisoft has just released a new The Division game on PC, and it's completely free. Following its release on mobile, The Division Resurgence is out now on PC in early access, and you can grab it now from Ubisoft Connect (it's not on Steam, however).
The RPG looter-shooter is set in New York City, the same setting as the first The Division game. Ubisoft said it opted for the early-access model to help do "technical testing" ahead of the 1.0 launch in August. The game supports cross-saves and cross-progression between the PC and mobile editions.

Ubisoft also shared the Season 1 roadmap for the mobile version of Resurgence. Season 1, which releases on May 12, adds limited-time events to Resurgence on iOS and Android, along with more cosmetics. Ubisoft is promising a new phase every six weeks, and that includes an update for the mobile game in June that adds more cosmetics and weapon skins.
Season 2 releases in August, and as mentioned, it heralds the 1.0 release of Resurgence on PC. Season 3 will follow in the winter, and it will add a "major story expansion," but that's all Ubisoft shared for now.
Ubisoft also announced a partnership with Backbone, the controller peripheral for mobile phones. Players with a Backbone controller can get in-game rewards, including a facemask, vest, and weapon attachment. The full redemption details can be found on the Backbone website.
As for The Division 3, it's going ahead without franchise executive producer Julian Gerighty, who left Ubisoft to work on Battlefield.
Ubisoft as a company is undergoing major changes, as the publisher and developer reorganized recently with a new Tencent-funded subsidiary focusing on The Division, Rainbow Six, Far Cry, and Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft also implemented a drastic cost-cutting initiative that led to mass layoffs and the cancellation of numerous games. The company has new games coming, including "several new IPs" and numerous more Assassin's Creed titles. One of them is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, which releases this July.
