Genshin Impact confirms the highly anticipated Snezhnaya region launch for August

Pocket Gamer RSS Feed3 min read(4 months ago)

Overview & Key Takeaways

It’s the last Friday of the month. Of course, there’s Genshin Impact news. This one’s a bit further out than usual, though. HoYoverse has confirmed that the next major region is arriving in August, which gives you plenty of time to speculate and overanalyse every frame of the reveal. Snezhnaya, the long-teased Cryo nation, is finally on the horizon. This isn’t just another stop on the map either. It’s been sitting in the background of the story since launch, tied to the Fatui, the Tsaritsa, and the whole question of what’s actually going on with the Gnoses. The upcoming region is positioned as a turning point, where a lot of those threads start coming together rather than just being hinted at. ... [MORE]

The setting itself looks like it’s pulling from colder, more industrial inspirations. Trains are being introduced both as part of the culture and as an actual way to move around, which is a shift from how traversal has worked so far. There’s also a heavier emphasis on music tied to classical symphonies and Slavic folk influences, which should give the region a distinct identity compared to what came before.

Gameplay-wise, Cryo is being pushed beyond just combat reactions. It’s being framed as a way to interact with the world – preserving elements, affecting traversal, and generally feeling more integrated into exploration rather than sitting purely in fights. HoYoverse is also talking about tighter integration between cinematic storytelling and gameplay, alongside broader visual upgrades across characters.

All of that is still a little way off, though. Right now, Version Luna VI is in session. It features new areas, bosses like Watcher: Fallen Vigil, and characters like Linnea. It’s got a lot of exploration-focused content if that’s your thing.

Snezhnaya will arrive in Genshin Impact on August 12th.

ZombiSeed mixes Flower Zombies with relationship drama and card battles

The Blossom virus does not leave much room for a peaceful gardening career. It transforms the infected into beautiful, flesh-eating Flower Zombies, while those who resist becoming monsters awaken supernatural powers and become Hunters. That is where ZombiSeed begins. ZombiSeed comes from LemonVelvet, a four-person team based in South Korea, and it is still a fair way off. The Kickstarter opens on September 10th, with the iOS and Android release pencilled in for April 2027. Text will be available in English and Korean. The voice acting stays in Korean, covering selected main-story scenes and every Card Story. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/zombiseed/announcement/)

Toy Wars: Survivor TD is a simple, cartoony and fast-paced RPG tower defence

It's been a while since we had a good, straightforward tower defence on mobile, or at least one with an interesting spin alongside solid core gameplay. Fortunately, today it's developer Actionfit's turn to deliver with the newly released Toy Wars: Survivor TD for iOS and Android, though going under the name Toy Survivor - The War on the former. As you might expect, Toy Wars: Survivor TD is a mashup of Vampire Survivors and typical tower defence gameplay. You'll take on each level facing down a host of bizarre, butchered toys as the noble (and still intact) playthings yourself. Along the way, you'll upgrade your weapons and characters, working to survive each battle in turn. ... MORE(https://www.pocketgamer.com/toy-wars-survivor-td/out-now-on-mobile/)
