That one rule does a lot. Walls redirect it, rotating tiles shift its path, tunnels and portals send it somewhere unexpected. Each level is essentially a chain reaction you need to map out before committing, because once the ball is moving, you're just watching your planning either hold together or fall apart.
The hexagonal grid is what makes it feel distinct. Routing on a hex layout opens up angles that square-based puzzles don't really deal with, which keeps the spatial reasoning from ever feeling too familiar. You're not thinking in straight lines - you're accounting for how each redirect ripples across multiple steps.
There's plenty to get through. Over 200 handcrafted levels spread across nine worlds, with replay challenges on top that revisit completed levels with new conditions. This should help stop the puzzler from feeling one-and-done, especially if you tend to go back for cleaner solutions.
Beyond the main levels, there's an in-game editor and community hub for building and sharing your own puzzles. Given how tightly structured the core design is, I’m sure we’ll be seeing many cool designs come up.
On a slightly different note, this also lands around the tail end of Pocket Gamer’s 20th anniversary celebrations. The final piece just went up, with the whole team sharing their favourite games from the year they joined. Mine was Pokémon Go, which probably won’t surprise anyone.
Momental is currently in beta on iOS, with an expected release on April 23rd.
