Microsoft is changing how it reports its finances to investors by splitting its businesses into two segments and disclosing quarterly revenue for its Azure cloud business for the first time. The changes are meant to reflect the ongoing impact of AI on Microsoft and how the company now operates.

The software giant has previously reported revenue from three segments: Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and More Personal Computing. This is now simplifying to two: Agents and Infra, and Devices and Consumer.

Devices and Consumer will include search and advertising revenues from LinkedIn and search advertising, as well as revenue from the Xbox division and Windows OEM and devices. Agents and Infra is essentially the rest of Microsoft, including Azure, Microsoft 365 Cloud, Microsoft 365 commercial and consumer, server products, industry solutions, and the enterprise and partner services that Microsoft now calls frontier and support services.

“There’s no question AI represents a profound shift in both technology and business,” says Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. “It is changing what we build and how we operate, and it is blurring the boundaries between our products and reshaping our business models.”

The biggest change to this reporting structure will see Microsoft finally disclose how its Azure business is running on a quarterly basis. Microsoft has been providing year-over-year growth rates for its Azure business, reporting its Azure revenue for the first time last year. Azure revenue will no longer include GitHub cloud and other developer cloud services, nor Security Copilot and Healthcare and Life Sciences cloud revenues.

“Under this reporting structure, Azure becomes more purely our consumption-based platform and infrastructure business,” says Nadella. “Within each of these segments, you will have full transparency of quarterly revenue across each of our key businesses, including Azure, M365 Cloud, industry solutions, and ads.”

Microsoft will start using these new financial reporting changes during its first quarter fiscal 2027 earnings in late October.

Witcher 4 Dev “Not Worried” About Future Of Consoles Despite Rising Costs

CD Projekt joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski is "not worried" about the future of consoles, despite rising costs that could impact growth in the sector(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/why-are-video-game-consoles-so-expensive-these-days-and-games-historically-cheap/). Speaking to The Game Business(https://www.thegamebusiness.com/p/cd-projekt-red-if-you-want-a-cost), Nowakowski said consoles continue to be "necessary to broaden the audience" for casual and semi-casual players. "It’s important to have easy to plug in and enjoy gaming," he said. He said consoles will "weather the storm" they are currently facing today, including pricing. Nowakowski also said he's heard the rumors that the PS6 and next Xbox could be delayed, but he said, "I don't know if they're true." !(https://www.gamespot.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Screenshot-2026-09-02-at-9.07.40-AM-1.png?w=636) A scene from The Witcher 4. Generally speaking, Nowakowski said CD Projekt doesn't spend too much time worrying about how the company reaches people. "Content is the king. And if the content is right, people will find a way to play it," the executive said. The developers at CD Projekt would ask for "as much power" as possible to help display games in the best possible light. However, Nowakowski said the developers at CD Projekt are "realistic," too, so if next-gen consoles get delayed, some ideas that would require new, more powerful hardware might get "put on a shelf for the future." "We’d have to adjust. We’re not worried on the commercial side. Consoles are here to stay," he said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FatSqS3VYY&t=19s CD Projekt has multiple games in the works that are likely planned for new consoles, as The Witcher 4 is lined up for release in 2028, with Cyberpunk 2 likely coming sometime after. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have raised hardware prices due to global market factors, including tariffs and the AI-fueled demand for components and memory. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently said it's "wonderful" that GPUs have use cases outside of gaming(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-ceo-reacts-to-the-irony-of-rising-console-prices-being-an-issue-that-microsoft-itself-created/), even if it means that Xbox consoles are now more expensive than ever. Nintendo, for its part, has received refunds for President Trump's tariffs--which were deemed illegal--but said it has no legal requirement(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-will-not-refund-tariff-fees-it-passed-onto-customers-saying-they-received-exactly-what-they-bargained-and-paid-for/) to pass along any money to consumers who paid more. Sony, meanwhile, has received gigantic tariff refunds as well, with no plans to pass anything along(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/playstation-parent-company-made-more-money-thanks-to-tariffs-it-shouldnt-have-paid/). There are rumors that the next wave of new consoles could cost $1,000 or more, and that could have a dramatic, negative effect on the market overall(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/1000-consoles-could-have-this-dramatic-negative-effect-on-gaming-report/).
