Pokémon is Getting Its Own Official Fitbit for Evolved Sleep Tracking

Pokémon has spent the past decade finding increasingly creative ways to bring its monsters into the real world. Pokémon Go turned your neighborhood into a Pokédex, while Pokémon Pokopia lets players build their own Pokémon paradise. And Pokémon Sleep turns your actual sleep time into a Pokémon-catching game, letting players discover Pokémon based on how they snooze.

If you've been snoozing with Snorlax, you now have a new way to show off your sleep stats. Google has announced a new Pokémon Sleep edition of the Fitbit Air, a new tracker designed to work directly with Pokémon Sleep and give the wearable a fresh makeover.

Fitbit gets a Pokémon makeover

The newly announced Pokémon Sleep edition is a themed version of Fitbit Air, Google's tiny sleep and health tracker. The 5.2-gram tracker is designed to be worn around the clock, with an optical heart-rate monitor, accelerometer and gyroscope, SpO2 sensors, and a skin-temperature sensor.

It can store seven days of detailed, minute-by-minute motion data and up to 30 days of daily totals, while its battery lasts for up to seven days.

There isn't any special technical advantage to the Pokémon version, though. It's essentially the same Fitbit Air under the hood, just with a Pokémon Sleep-themed design. But it's an easy way to let everyone know you're serious about your Pokémon without having to say it.

For anyone unfamiliar with Pokémon Sleep, the game turns your nightly rest into a Pokémon-collecting routine. You put your phone or compatible sleep-tracking device near you while you sleep, and the game analyzes your sleep to determine a sleep type. When you wake up, different Pokémon will have gathered around Snorlax based on how you slept, giving you new Pokémon to research and add to your collection.

The Fitbit Pokémon Sleep edition costs $129.99 and preorders are now available.

The Fitbit isn't the only Pokémon project giving fans something to look forward to. Pokémon Winds and Waves, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, has been unusually quiet, but recent leaks have given fans a few things to chew on. One purported screenshot appears to show an unfinished inventory interface containing placeholder Pokémon art, including multiple images of Moltres. Another leaked image reportedly teases the final evolutions of Winds and Waves' three starters, Browt, Pombon and Gecqua.
