Fable system requirements seem reasonable but with a 30 fps target and no mention of upscaling it's hard to say for sure

Overview & Key Takeaways

And you may want to make some on your SSD too.

With Fable (it's just called Fable, but it's technically Fable 4) set to release on February 23 next year, we finally have its system requirements. And for a big budget game launching in 2027, they're not too bad.

That's according to the newly updated Fable FAQ, which says you will need an Intel i7 6850K or an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, paired with either an RTX 5050 / RTX 2060, a Radeon RX 6600, or an Intel A580 to run the game on a minimum. Minimum in this case means running the game at 1080p at 30 fps.

With the RTX 2060 being a budget-to-mid-range graphics card from 2019, and both suggested CPUs being nearly a decade old, these are reasonably unintensive requirements, assuming you can stomach 30 fps. Especially for what looks to be a very good-looking game.

The recommended specs (which in this case means running the game on Medium) are an Intel i5 11600KF or AMD Ryzen 5 5600 paired with an RTX 5060 / RTX 3060 TI, or an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT / RX 7600 XT. There's no Intel GPU mention on this one, and 'recommended' entails playing the game on 1440p at 30 fps or at 1200p at 60 fps.

Interestingly, there is no note on whether upscaling is used to get these figures. Forza Horizon 6, another game from the Fable developer, Playground Games, specifies that its system requirements do not include upscaling (apart from the Extreme RT recommendation), so the lack of any such declaration is certainly rather strange.

And upscaling has been finding its way into system requirements recently. For instance, The Blood of Dawnwalker's final system requirements included upscaling set to Balanced, which made them appear lower than previously given system requirements.

With the game still a good few months out, these may not be the absolute final requirements, but they paint a good picture of what you could roughly expect out of your rig.

Still, early signs are decent here, and the 12 GB memory requirement isn't too bad, even with the memory crisis in full swing. In fact, with the memory crisis also taking the price of SSDs with it, its 135 GB of storage requirement may be the hardest for me to make room for. Hey, maybe you've got a few hundred GB in your recycle bin like I did a buddy of mine had.
