10 Action Series to Watch If You Love Prime Video's Reacher

Action lovers rejoice: Season 4 of Reacher, the hit series based on Lee Child's book Gone Tomorrow, is in full swing on Amazon Prime Video. The first episode hit the streaming service on Aug. 12, and Alan Ritchson has slipped back into his role with ease. Season 4 sees Jack Reacher on the run from law enforcement after being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time — but that doesn't mean we haven't seen him remind people that he's not one to be messed with. He's still ruling scenes with an iron fist, and occasionally, with a weapon or two at his disposal.

The show's fourth season wraps up in September, which leaves viewers already wondering where they're going to get their action fix when Alan Ritchson is no longer on their screens each week. Fret not — from the high-stakes Hijack to a show with a very similar name (we're talking about Tracker) there is no shortage of great action shows to check out once Reacher concludes.

10 Tracker (2024 - Ongoing)

Much like Reacher, Tracker is based on a novel (The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver). Tracker — not just notable for its similar name — focuses on a main character who is a little bit of a lone wolf. Colter Shaw (played by Justin Hartley) is a survivalist who grew up off the grid and is skilled at fending for himself. He also knows a thing or two about how to find people that have gone missing. Each episode sees Colter accepting a new job, which always involves finding people who are caught in precarious and deadly situations.

Tracker, joined by a supporting cast of recurring characters like Reenie Green (Fiona Rene) and Randy (Chris Lee), has its first three seasons available to stream on Prime Video, with a fourth season due out in October.

9 Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (2018 - 2023)

All you need to read is the first part of the title to know that Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is going to have plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. Following one of the best-known characters in the Tom Clancy universe, the Prime Video show sees John Krasinski as Ryan, a CIA analyst who is forced out from behind his desk and into dangerous field operations across Europe and the Middle East. And, as any high-stakes military pursuit goes, the show has no shortage of gunfights, hand-to-hand combat and explosions on screen.

8 The Night Agent (2023 - Ongoing)

Here's another action-packed TV series based off of a book: Netflix's The Night Agent is based on the book by the same name by author Matthew Quirk. The Night Agent, in this case, is FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who works in the basement of the White House. His job? Man an emergency phone line for a secret program that only rings if an undercover agent is in serious danger. As fate would have it, it rings, which pulls Sutherland into a web of conspiracy and threats.

The Night Agent has three seasons available to stream on Netflix, with a fourth currently being filmed.

7 Lanterns (2026 - Ongoing)

On the surface, Reacher and Lanterns might not seem to have much in common. One show (Reacher) might be gritty and dark, but it never extends quite into supernatural territory. On the other hand, Lanterns, set in the DC Comics' Green Lantern universe, is heavily involved in the supernatural, featuring everything from aliens to a glowing ring that provides a wealth of superhuman abilities. But look closer. As Richard Fink writes in a MovieWeb report, "Even with the added elements of aliens and Manhunters, Lanterns strips away many of the more fantastical elements to feature rough-and-tumble heroes getting into bar fights."

The first season of Lanterns is streaming weekly on HBO Max and is expected to have a total of eight episodes.

6 Hijack (2023 - Ongoing)

Hijack is equal parts gritty action and heart-pounding thriller, which earns it a spot on this list. While some might think the pacing of Hijack is a little bit slower compared to Reacher, the payoff is worth it. The show follows Sam Nelson (Idris Elba), a corporate negotiator on a flight from Dubai to London. When the plane he is on is hijacked by armed criminals, Nelson must use his skills and wits to outsmart the hijackers.

Hijack has two seasons available for streaming on Apple TV. And no, the second season doesn't also take place on a plane, but it is equally intense.

5 The Punisher (2017 - 2019)

If aliens and glowing rings of power in the DC universe are a little too muh, The Punisher, which tells the origin story of vigilante Frank Castle of the Marvel universe (better known as, you guessed it, The Punisher) might be a safer choice. There are no supernatural gimmicks here — only lots of gunfire and hand-to-hand combat as Castle vows revenge on those responsible for the murders of his wife and children.

Both seasons of The Punisher are available to stream on Disney+.

4 Marshals (2026 - Ongoing)

Marshals is a Yellowstone spinoff series starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton.

Marshals, which premiered this past spring on Paramount, is a Yellowstone spin-off dipped in western crime elements. Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) has left the ranch life behind to work as a U.S. Marshal. He works as part of a special unit tasked with protecting Montana, and that includes chasing down and wrangling criminals, all while on horseback.

The first season of Marshals is streaming on Paramount+, with a second season due out in October.

3 Person of Interest (2011 - 2016)

Though more than a decade has passed since it first aired, Person of Interest is every bit as heart-pounding today as it was in 2011. If stoic, lethal main protagonists like Jack Reacher are a favorite archetype, then the main character from this show fits the bill. Person of Interest follows John Reese (James Caviezel), a former CIA agent tasked with stopping violent crimes before they happen. The result — hand-to-hand combat, shootouts and high-stakes pursuits.

All five seasons of Person of Interest are available to stream on Peacock and Prime Video.

2 Tulsa King (2022 - Ongoing)

Tulsa King is equal parts mafia drama and mafia action, with an additional bonus of mafia-driven comedy. The show opens with Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone, like that's not a good enough reason to watch), a former mafia boss who is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma to build a new empire from the ground up. That mission comes with everything you'd expect from the mafia — gang violence, turf wars, and shootouts, and that's just the beginning.

All three seasons of Tulsa King are available to stream on Paramount+. The fourth season is expected to premiere in October.

1 Cross (2024 - Ongoing)

Cross brings to life the Alex Cross book series by author James Patterson. Aldis Hodge plays Cross, a homicide detective who tracks down dangerous serial killers while grappling with the trauma of his wife's murder. There are plenty of high-stakes moments and heart-pounding action to be had as the viewer follows Cross along on a seemingly never-ending game of cat and mouse.

Both seasons of Cross are available for streaming on Prime Video. A third season is expected in 2027.
