HoYoverse carved a niche for itself with anime RPGs over the last five years or so, but now it's branching out into something rather different. The Genshin Impact maker revealed Nodus Fall during Gamescom ONL 2026, a co-op action game that looks more than a bit like what you'd get from making Elden Ring and Monster Hunter kiss.
Like with most HoYoverse games, it sounds like Nodus Fall has a lot of lore, and the trailer goes into a bit of it. It's mostly proper nouns and big fantasy concepts without a whole lot of concrete info about what's happening, but the gist is that the gods are gone, and Weavers use divine power to "sunder the dread Nodus," whatever that means.
The Nodus Fall trailer shows giant trolls forging at giant anvils, winged tigers summoning lightning, a dark angel spreading rot-covered wings (yes, it's very Malenia-coded), dragons, barren deserts, big armor and even bigger weapons of varying types, spears of holy light (no Miquella stand-in, though), and more than a couple of dead or dead-adjacent bodies.
It's all very unlike HoYoverse's usual bright-but-melancholy fare, though that is, perhaps, not as surprising as it would've been a few years ago. In the past 12 months, HoYoverse has announced two more departures from their usual milieu: Petit Planet, a cozy farming sim, and Varsapura, a game that looks like it shares more in common with GTA than anything else.
HoYoverse shared no other details about Nodus Fall during Gamescom, and there's no release date or anticipated beta test date yet, either.
