Beast of Reincarnation: All Manual locations

Rock Paper Shotgun » GuidesJosh Broadwell7 min read(about 11 hours ago)

Overview & Key Takeaways

Beast of Reincarnation's Manuals are your ticket to new items, most of which are pretty essential as you guide Emma toward the Capital City. Manuals give you things like fire arrows and acid bolts, along with some exceptionally useful items for Koo to use in battle, including a second health restorative that works in addition to your emergency medicine.

You might not end up using every item a Manual teaches you to craft. Some, like Extinguishing Sand and Torches, are situational, and you can get by without them. Others, like the medicinal tonics and elemental arrows, give you an edge against tougher enemies, especially on the game's higher difficulty levels. However, unlike weapons and armor, most of these are tucked away in hard-to-reach places or guarded by elite enemies — or both. There are several you can just spend amber to get, though.

In this guide, we make the job of tracking down Manual locations much simpler. We show you where to find every Manual in each location, with images showing where they are on the map and what that looks like in-game.

You'll find three manuals in Ogouchi Buffer Zone, including a couple of highly useful ranged projectiles for Emma.

You can purchase these from the golem merchant just outside the Nushi's final lair by exchanging amber.

  • Extinguishing Sand: 840
  • Bottle of Acid: 880
  • Torch: 930
  • Fire Bolts: 950
  • Acid Arrows: 950

Fire Arrow Manual

You'll find this one in the southwest corner of the village, in a building behind and above a golem that's manning (roboting?) a ballista. It's where the character marker is on the map image above. Note that you won't be able to use fire arrows until you acquire a proper bow, though. These projectiles don't work with the smaller bow Emma starts with.

If you want to build the scorch effect on enemies, make sure to upgrade these in the projectile upgrade menu at camp or the Cleanse Walker's workbench. The starting amount Emma can carry and their effect buildup aren't enough to burn most elite enemies and Nushi.

Acid Bolt Manual

The acid bolt manual is northwest of the initial objective. If you find the Adviser Golem on this side of the map, the game will mark the manual as a side objective to complete. If not, make your way through the enemy stronghold and, at the end of a tunnel, you'll come upon a shack that an elite golem guards. Defeat it, and head inside to get the manual.

It's very much worth your amber to expand the number of acid bolts Emma can carry at once, as these are highly effective against golem enemies.

Recovery Tonic (S) Manual

You'll get this one for free by speaking to the Rusted Golem sitting in a small alcove outside the subcity entrance. The golem doesn't tell you, but when you get a recovery tonic (or other items for Koo), you'll need to manually equip them from the equipment menu. Otherwise, Koo can't use them.

The Ancient Civilization Zone has no hidden manuals, but there is a useful selection of manuals you can purchase from a merchant golem.

You can purchase these from a golem as you make your way into the subway station. This path is part of the main mission, so it's impossible to miss.

  • Lightning Arrows: 1,530
  • Acid Arrows: 950
  • Bolt Shard: 1,470
  • Golem Censer: 1,200

Oil Container Manual

The oil container manual is at the end of the Maze of Sin in the southeastern part of the map. It's not a maze, despite the name, but it is full of exploding oil containers that cover the ground in fire. Emma will take scorch damage if she touches the fire, so mind how you go. A tough elite golem is at the end of the maze.

Poison Arrows Manual

This manual is in an area just west of the Flower Field Tower campsite, and it's surrounded by enemies. Clear them out, and grab the manual.

Mortal Shell 2’s Latest Update Alleviates One Of The Game’s Biggest Headaches

Developer Cold Symmetry has released its latest souls-like action-RPG, Mortal Shell 2(https://www.gamespot.com/games/mortal-shell-ii/), on August 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. And not even a day after launch, the studio already dropped a patch that makes some welcome tweaks, including addressing one of the game's most annoying issues: gold farming. On August 20, Cold Symmetry shared a breakdown on the game's subreddit(https://www.reddit.com/r/MortalShell/comments/1vttz2d/balancepatch1/) and Steam page(https://steamcommunity.com/app/2584270/discussions/0/582805931178489108/) of what Balance Patch 1 does. A welcome adjustment is a refund of the Glimpses--a rare currency used to bond with and unlock memories of your shell--you might've spent to discover a shell's location(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/mortal-shell-2-all-shell-locations/). You get whatever you spent back, and now, instead of costing that rare currency, buying a shell map costs Gloom, this game's version of Runes or Souls. A big change is a nerf to a handful of bosses and enemies. As Cold Symmetry put it, "all enemies featured in the beta were restored to their beta HP values." This means that the starting area of Mortal Shell 2(https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/mortal-shell-2-is-a-fresh-and-exciting-shake-up-of-the-souls-like-formula/) has been tuned down to match what was in the beta, which I found quite easy when compared to the full release. Maybe the most major tweak, however, is an increase to the amount of gold you find now. As a result of this patch, gold drops from enemies have been "significantly increased," especially in the second zone. This lets you upgrade your weapons more often, as gold discovery should be in line with the materials you find everywhere. There are a handful of other changes that came with Balance Patch 1. This includes Tarstones--items that grant passive bonuses or modify melee attacks--and weapons(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/mortal-shell-2-tarforge-weapons-tarstones-upgrades/) getting buffed, addressing crashes and fixing bugs, and reducing the cost to unlevel your weapons via smelting. Balance Patch 1 is available now for PC. There's no release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions yet, but Cold Symmetry said it'll arrive on those platforms "shortly." For now, check out the update notes for Balance Patch 1 below. Mortal Shell 2 Balance Patch 1 Economy - Shell map locations now cost Gloom, and we’re refunding any Glimpses spent on shell maps. Refunded Glimpses are found in the Shell Keeper’s alcove in Blackmarrow. “Finding your favorite shell shouldn’t cost you the ability to bond with them.” - Gold drops from enemies have been significantly increased. Notably, enemies in Mammon now drop double the gold. “This brings the gold economy more in line with the weapon crafting item discovery.” - Smelting a weapon at the Tarforge costs 75% less gloom. “Our goal with the smelt capability was to enable switching weapons without the need to spend hours grinding through NG+ runs, but the Gloom costs were set exorbitantly high.” Enemies & Bosses All enemies featured in the beta were restored to their beta HP values, except the Caerinid (Spider) in Magdalena’s area, which we wanted to retain its role as a threatening enemy which doesn’t respawn once defeated. - Bosses - The Lost Child - Base Damage: (-10%) - Max Health: (-15%) - Monolith - Base Damage: (-19%) - Max Health: (-10%) - Some Monolith Attacks were retimed to be more fair, as well. - Enemies - Cultist (mace) - Max Health: (-21.1%) - Caerinid Spider - Max Health: (-33.3%) - Infested Stalker - Max Health: (-52.4%) - Rusted Knave (Halberd) - Max Health: (-20.8%) - Fixed hit detection for overhead strike. Weapons - Great Martyr’s Blade Attack Damage +20% - Troubadour's Lute Attack Damage +100% - Caged Hystrix and Triarch Repeater no longer have minimum resolve requirements to fire. - Improved tracking for Axatana, Black Needle, and Clockwork Scythe light attacks. Seals - Guard can now be used while walking. Tarstones - Parasitic Stone Buffed - Grudge Stone Buffed - Bulwark Stone Damage Reduction Increased Significantly - Clerik's Stone Buffed - Squall Stone Buffed Miscellaneous - Misc. Beast of Reincarnation: All armor locations

!(https://assetsio.gnwcdn.com/beast-of-reincarnation-armor.jpg?width=690&quality=85&format=jpg&auto=webp) Finding new armor locations in Beast of Reincarnation(https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games/beast-of-reincarnation) can make your fights against the Malefacts quite a lot smoother. Aside from defense ratings, different armor sets offer different resistance effects to the game's status ailments, so if you know you're going up against an enemy proficient in shock, it's a good idea to put on some shock-proof armor. Each armor set also has a different number of spirit stone slots and affects how effectively Emma can sneak around enemies without getting detected. Stealth might not seem important in Beast of Reincarnation's early chapters, though having the option to sneak around groups of enemies and avoid fighting them completely comes in handy later. Just make sure to weigh the pros and cons before swapping your armor. Sometimes, the higher defense numbers in sets like the Chain Mail and Thick Cuirass outweigh the extra attention they bring you from enemies. Beast of Reincarnation's armor sets can be difficult to track down, but we've done the legwork for you. In this guide, we'll show you where to find every armor set, including where they are on the map and what that looks like in-game, and we list the special effects for each.
