'GTA 6' Map Leak Reveals Size of Rockstar's New Vice City

Overview & Key Takeaways

The apparent Grand Theft Auto 6 map of Leonida matches recent teases given by GTA Online by Rockstar itself

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are champing at the bit to know the scale and scope of Leonida, with some players going so far as to map the game themselves before Rockstar Games officially reveals it. If a recent GTA 6 leak proves to be true, we may already know the exact parameters of Rockstar's digital Florida.

The map is a part of a larger sudden Grand Theft Auto 6 leak on Tuesday that revealed some smaller aspects of the game, like the ability to play basketball, impressive water physics, and an evolved wanted system. The apparent hacking group behind the leak, Cyberleek, also released an image that purports to be the full GTA 6 map that you can look at here.

Is the GTA 6 map leak legit?

People believe this to be the real GTA 6 map primarily because Cyberleek has already shared new footage of the game that would be difficult to forge even with the help of AI. The clips are somewhat aimless โ€” like this one, where Jason gets into a random car accident that turns into a highway fight. The low-key nature of the gameplay lends credibility that this is footage of an actual person playing GTA 6, albeit what may be an unfinished version of the game.

Another aspect that makes the leak seem real is that it matches teases given by Rockstar in the last major update for GTA Online, which introduced a high-stakes art heist. Two pieces of art in the background of this content addition appear to match the general shape of the new map leak. The leaked map also resembles the map generated by ultra fans who spent a long time dissecting previous gameplay trailers.

The most damning piece of evidence here is that Take-Two, GTA 6's publisher, has also begun pulling some uploads of the footage obtained by Cyberleek. Such DMCA claims are not something Take-Two would be able to do unless it claimed ownership of the content in question.

The map includes five primary areas: Leonard County, Kelly County, Vice Dale County, Mariana County, and Lummox County. The map contains a few icons, but their purpose is not explained.

Earlier this year, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick boasted to investors that the marketing for the open-world game would be defined by its "creativity." He could have been referring to the GTA 6 advertising push that's coming with Netflix, but an alternate reality game of sorts with hidden map teases suits that description better.

Perhaps we'll get confirmation soon when the Netflix extended look at GTA 6 drops on Nov. 27.

Epic Mickey Brought An Icon Back To Disney, And Warren Specter Doesnโ€™t Want You To Forget

After over four decades in video games, developer Warren Specter is retiring(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/deus-ex-and-immersive-sim-founding-father-warren-spector-retires-from-game-development/) from the industry. But as Specter moves towards the door, he wants to make sure that the team behind his 2010 game Epic Mickey(https://www.gamespot.com/games/disney-epic-mickey/) gets their due for bringing one of Walt Disney's earliest creations back home to Disney. In 2003, the development document for Epic Mickey reportedly spurred then-Disney president Bob Iger to eventually regain the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a breakout animated character created by Disney and animator Ub Iwerks. When the Oswald property was taken from Disney, the latter created Mickey Mouse and the rest was history. In 2006, Iger was Disney's CEO when he made the deal to bring Oswald home in exchange for the rights to sportscaster Al Michaels. Subsequently, Epic Mickey was the first Disney project to bring Mickey and Oswald together. Sixteen years after Oswald appeared in Epic Mickey, the character is getting his own miniseries on Disney+.. On his LinkedIn account(https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7494614998011375616/), Specter reacted to the recent D23 preview of Oswald's Disney+ show. He also noted that he that Epic Mickey's contributions to the character were being overlooked. "I'm seriously looking forward to the miniseries, but it seems as if people are looking at it as the debut of the character," wrote Specter. "Call me small-minded but that ainโ€™t right." Specter elaborated that the game marked Oswald's first Disney role since 1928, and added that the game's sequel, Epic Mickey: The Power of Two(https://www.gamespot.com/games/disney-epic-mickey-2-the-power-of-two/), gave Oswald a voice for the first time in a Disney story and fleshed out his love interest, Ortensia. "I have to admit that Iโ€™m a little bitter about the lack of credit the team gets for all this," Specter wrote. "I was blown away that Disney trusted us and saw fit to reintroduce the little guy in a game. But the team did a great job and deserves to be recognized for it before Hollywood makes people forget the games ever existed." In 2024, Epic Mickey got a modern remaster in Epic Mickey Rebrushed(https://www.gamespot.com/videos/disney-epic-mickey-rebrushed-launch-trailer/2300-6465189/). Around that time, Specter acknowledged that Epic Mickey 3 was unlikely to happen(https://www.gamespot.com/articles/epic-mickey-3-is-impossible-but-series-creator-has-some-ideas/1100-6521409/), but he did say that he had some ideas for the unmade sequel.
