Xbox Game Pass users got a pretty good RPG earlier this month in Beast of Reincarnation, and next week the intriguing Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy arrives on Microsoft's subscription service. However, just as Resonance arrives, several great games leave. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt will no longer be available on Xbox Game Pass after Aug. 31.
Leaving Xbox Game Pass in August 2026
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt made Geralt and The Witcher franchise household names in 2015. Since then, it has sold 65 million copies and is widely regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time. It follows Witcher Geralt searching for his adoptive daughter, Ciri, as she's chased across The Continent by the mysterious and dangerous Wild Hunt. Like so many open-world RPGs, however, part of the fun is exploring everything else the game has to offer aside from its main quest (like Gwent). If you were hoping to replay it on Xbox Game Pass before its upcoming Songs of the Past expansion comes out, sorry to report you only have two more weeks to do so.

New on Xbox Game Pass in August 2026
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass and headlines a so-so batch of new titles. It's a prequel to the first two Plague Tale games and trades in those titles' stealth-focused gameplay for something more action-packed; expect to parry, stab, and slice plenty of enemies in Resonance.
