Rock Paper Shotgun » Guides✍ Ollie Toms(13 days ago)

Summary

Attributes and Skills are a key component of your growth throughout Beast Of Reincarnation. As you defeat enemies and level up, you'll earn Attribute Points and Skill Points to upgrade your base stats and unlock new and powerful abilities, both for Emma and for Koo. But what if you change your mind later on? Can you get a refund on those points you've spent?

The answer is yes: you can indeed respec in Beast Of Reincarnation, for a fairly low cost in Amber. However, you need to reach a certain point in the main story which occurs in Chapter 2, when you meet the character who can reset your Skills and Attributes for you. Read on to find out exactly how to unlock the ability to respec, and how to refund your points from the safety of your Cleanse Walker anytime you like after that.

How to respec in Beast Of Reincarnation

To respec in Beast of Reincarnation, speak to Mikoto using the Communicator in the Cleanse Walker and select "Reset Attributes". Both Mikoto and the Communicator become available near the end of Chapter 2, after you rescue Mikoto from an Elite enemy during the "Power the Gate" objective.

Here are the exact steps to unlock the ability to respec:

  1. Progress the main story of Chapter 2 until the quest "Power the Gate".
  2. Exit the Reservoir and follow the quest marker until you find Mikoto, a young grey-haired man, fighting an elite enemy.
  3. Save Mikoto by defeating the Level 12 Agile Golem. Afterwards, Mikoto will explain his power to manipulate Blight with his voice.
  4. Return to the Cleanse Walker at the end of Chapter 2. The Communicator on the wall will now be unlocked.
  5. Use the Communicator to call Mikoto and choose "Reset Attributes".
  6. Select either Emma's or Koo's Attributes to reset.

Resetting refunds your spent Attribute points for both Emma and Koo so you can redistribute them freely. Doing this will also reset all Skill points that you've put into unlocking Bloom Arts and Blade Arts, allowing you to change up your build at any point from Chapter 2 onwards (as long as you have the Amber to pay Mikoto).

For each Attribute point you've invested, the total cost in Amber to respec increases by 100. So if you have invested 36 Attribute points so far, then it will cost you 3600x Amber to reset those points. The cost doesn't take into account how many Skill points you've accrued - it will refund them to you all the same.

I've found it to be relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme to reset my Attributes and Skill points whenever I felt like altering my build. By halfway through the game I found I had something in the region of 100,000x Amber to spend freely, so the respec cost isn't much of a consideration. Use it whenever you feel like making changes either to the distribution of points across your three Attributes, or to the various Bloom Arts, Blade Arts, Mods, and passive effects you've unlocked and upgraded over the course of the game so far.

That concludes this primer on how to respec and reset your build in Beast Of Reincarnation! Whoever expected Mikoto to be so useful after you saved him?
