You pick a chassis, fit wheels, and stack up to five armoured floors on top, each one armed separately. Rams shove things backwards. Saws chew up whatever gets close, hammers reach a bit further out, and the upper storeys are where the ballistas and cannons and rockets live.
The floors are the real thing here, though. Each one carries its own health pool, so when a lower floor goes, everything above it drops into the gap. Hero included.
Which means your neat five-tier design is a three-tier one with the wrong weapons at the wrong heights, halfway through a fight you were winning. You can come out of a level with a worse machine than you took into it. I like that a lot more than watching a vehicle pick up a few dents.
30 campaign levels, enemies getting thicker on the ground as you go, a boss at the end of each route with its own pattern to work out. Upgrades change how weapons look as well as what they do, so a machine that's had a lot poured into it looks like it has. Reinforced bits, new parts, colour accents.
Siege Foundry runs offline. No adverts, no in-app purchases either, according to the developer. That alone puts it in a fairly small group on the App Store these days.
I'll be upfront that nothing here looks spectacular. It's a builder with a collapse mechanic and the presentation is functional at best, which I suspect is exactly what it's going for. But these things were everywhere for a reason, and the floor-by-floor teardown is more than the old ones bothered with.
