Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced features a whole host of treasure maps, but there's no in-game map leading to the locations of the Community Chests. These troves were announced by Ubisoft shortly after the game's release, and players were expected to band together to solve a weekly clue that led to each one's location.

Of course, the Black Flag fanbase quickly cracked the coordinates leading to each chest without much time passing at all, perhaps inspired by the treasure-hunting adventures of Edward Kenway himself. The prizes are very solid, including lots of Reales, two legendary Figureheads for the Jackdaw, a sweet sword, and a snazzy outfit that makes Edward look like an assassin of old.

If you missed all of the Community Chest fervour, never fear. This guide will list all 3 Community Chest locations, along with the rewards contained within. Happy hunting!

Wait until day to dive for these chests An extra tip from Jeremy

If you were wondering whether or not you need the Diving Bell to find the Community Chests, the answer is no. You can free-dive for these chests as long as you can reach the area they're located in. However, it's best to wait until day to dive, as your vision will be greatly obscured if you attempt to search underwater in the evening.

Note that Chests #2 and 3 are guarded in areas surrounded by forts and enemy ships and may not be immediately accessible until you've upgraded the Jackdaw and progressed further into the main story.

Community Chest #1

This chest is located in the far north of the map in the Dry Tortuga region around 421, 939. Travel there and take note of the large rocky boulder formation sticking out of the water; sail to its north-west side, to where the rocks meet the greenery of the nearby landmass. Dive down at that spot, and you'll find the chest.

This chest contains the following:

Community Chest #2

This chest is north of the Blue Hole shipwreck in the Charlotte region around 500, 168. Dive into the waters facing the rocks of the landmass in front of you to find the chest, which is encased in a small underwater alcove surrounded by coral.

This chest contains the following:

  • Uncrowned Prince: Legendary rapier that deals 25 damage, allows for 3 maximum takedowns, and recovers some health after breaking enemy defence
  • Guardian Beast Figurehead: Legendary figurehead

Community Chest #3

Last but not least is the third chest, in the Chinchorro region around 28, 292. Check for a large boulder formation visible from the surface of the water; dive around its north-east side to locate the chest. Be wary of enemy ships that are patrolling around this area; they'll shred you instantly with cannon and mortar shots if you haven't built up the Jackdaw. If you want, you can avoid these ships by docking the Jackdaw farther out and swimming to the chest.
